Green Juice has become a part of the daily routine in our house. It took me a little while to find the right recipe that was both tasty and spicy (but not too spicy for the little one). I also like it a bit on the tart side where the hubby likes it more on the sweeter side. You see my dilemma? But, I think I finally got the right combo. I also really like this recipe because you can make it in large batches and, even better, it stays for about 3 days in your fridge. We’re big snackers so we usually drink ours in 1.5 days! Oh and it makes such a great on-the-go snack for the little ones! The earlier you get them on the greens the better. Aleksandar has acquired quite the taste for all things green and I’d like to think it’s because we started him early on the steamed greens and green juices. With just a bit of prep work you’ve got yourself peace of mind in a glass! Yumm…peace of mind sure does taste good!
1 bunch of organic spinach (about 2.5 cups)
1 bunch of organic kale (about 2 cups)
4 organic stalks of celery
2 med-large organic cucumbers
1 piece of ginger root (about 2 inches long)
1 lime peeled
4 organic green apples
3 organic kiwis
*note I made this recipe with all organic ingredients but it would taste just as good with non organic produce. We’ve just gotten into the habit of eating organic or at the very least locally grown whenever possible.
Rinse all ingredients well. My sitter in-law got me in the habit of soaking all my fruits and veggies for 20 mins and that’s what I did. Run all ingredients through your juicer. Like I said I like my juice a bit more tart so I actually put the whole lime through the juicer. But, if you’d rather have just a hint of lime simply squeeze the juice of 1 lime into the juicer while you run all other ingredients through. Serve chilled or at room temperature. Its delish either way.
