In honor of the new celebrations I will be working on in my partnership with Equinox For Kids Only Clubs I wanted to share a fun, bright, and whimsical birthday party I styled for the cutest set of twins. I actually did this party a few years back and although I do have the images in my Gallery Page, I wanted to officially share the details with you!
I will let you in on a secret…I cringe when a client wants to do a character themed party. I always try to work around the idea of a straight on themed party and think outside the box for design ideas. With this party I knew I had to cater to a little boy and a little girl so I thought creating a dessert table that was both fun and whimsical would be so sweet and super cute.
First I started by creating a bright color palette of pink, green, blue and yellow. In order to achieve consistency I made sure to keep all of the candy, decor, and stationary within this color palette.
A subtle way to give the feel of a character is by adding playful character desserts. you get a good idea of the theme without it being too in your face!
To break things up, I often like to add a play on patterns. Here I mixed stripes and chevron in the place settings, centerpieces and custom party hats!
Chocolate covered oreos! OMG guys, if you haven’t tried them do yourself a favor and do it. So good!
In order to play up the whimsy, I added fresh white and yellow tulips along with hot pink gerber daises in sweet green and pink vases I got at Ikea. This served as the perfect anchor for the cake.
I hope you enjoyed this Dora and Diego whimsical birthday party as much as I enjoyed putting all the details together for it. Enjoy your weekend!
