Now that the colder months are fast approaching I’ve been preparing for snow days and plenty of days off of school. Planning activities ahead for the kids is key in keeping things sane around here. Normally my little mini just tags along and does whatever big brother wants to do. This time I wanted to do something special for her. Now that she’s in nursery school everything she accomplishes ends with “I’m a big girl”! So I decided to give her a big girl activity and threw her a girly Tea Party fit for a mini princess.
I added a couple of striped throw pillows that I literally just pulled off the couch for a little comfort. I love how the blue stripes play off of the blue in the rug. When I design a party set up I like playing with patterns. People often are afraid of too much pattern as it can make things look too busy but as long as there is a common color (as in the off white in the stripes and the rug) you can totally go for a play of patterns. It keeps things interesting!
I took some left over flowers from a previous shoot and adorned our coffee table with it. Along with some iced tea served in “big girl” tea cups and some pretty pink macaroons and powdered cookies on a pretty cake stand. I served up a piece of lemon sponge cake adorned with a twig of lavender and sprinkled some left over rose petals for that finishing feminine touch. I love how the silver sequenced table runner elevates the set up and breaks up the white and pick color palette.
And there you have it. Super simple and super pretty. Perfect little set up for a Tea Party with your little “big girl”.
