Although it isn’t officially winter, the cooler temperatures have me and the fam wanting to stay in cuddled under the blankets with a cup of hot coco in hand. Last year I made a hot chocolate bar for Mikaela’s 1st Birthday and it was such a hit that Aleksandar kept asking for a cup of “hot coco” just about every night before bed there after. In fact, we’re kind of known as the “Hot Coco Home”. We really have it down to a science and it really is so simple! So simple in fact that I quite often put one together at just about every gathering during these winter months. Here is how I make a Hot Chocolate Bar in just 5 easy steps!
Make a sign I love creating signs for parties. It gives guests direction and makes them feel more open to “helping themselves”. I got this sign on Etsy
Choose your flavors giving guests fun options for the base of their own hot chocolate creation is always a good idea.
Display your toppings get creative with the toppings and think outside the box. My kids love camp fire marshmallows in their hot coco but adding in some fun options like peppermint sprinkles, dark chocolate shavings, or coconut flakes turns an ordinary hot chocolate up a few notches.
Add a little holiday cheer with hot chocolate or anything hot for that matter, you don’t want to add too much to the setting so that things get too tight and uncomfortable for your guests to serve themselves. Keeping it simple is always best. Just add a few mini ornaments or some pine cone or holly leaves to bring in the spirit of the holiday season without the overload.
I know you have some fantastic ideas for jazzing up a bar or buffet table this holiday season. I’d love to hear from you!
